New Album Tour
Really excited about going out on tour with the new album. The Tour starts on the 15th February at the Lincoln Drill Hall and we finish on the 27th March at the Blend Festival in Stirling. In between those dates I'll be playing in England, Scotland and Ireland so if there is a date near you it would be great to see you there.
Must say a big thanks to everyone who came out to support the album launch at Celtic Connections this year. Really enjoyed the gig and hope you all did too!
Just been in the studio with Deaf Shepherd starting work on a new album for release later on this year. I'm off again to the studio this week as Dochas set to work on their 3rd album. So its a busy time just now but lots of fun all the same!
Hopefully catch you at a gig very soon.
Happy New Year
Hey there folks, hope you've all had a great Christmas and New Year! I'm very excited as I'm going to be launching my new album, 'The Laughing Girl' on the 26th January at the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow. I'm delighted to be performing alongside one of Scandinavia's greatest bands, Vasen. Really looking forward to playing the new music from the album, along with Kevin Mackenzie, Bethany Reid, James Thomson, Iain Sandilands and Duncan Lyall. Would be great to see you there if you can make it!
On the 17th I'll be performing as part of the 'Islands' piece. An amazing collection of music composed and put together by Luke Daniels and Donald Grant. It involves music from Ireland, Northumberland and Shetland. As well as gorgeous new compositions.
Also very excited to be playing with Filska at the 'Shetland Night'. On the evening of the 19th in the Main Auditorium in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall; this promises to showcase many bands from the northern Isles of Shetland.
I'll also be playing as part of the 'Festival Orchestra' on the 19th, a brand new event for this years festival.
Hope you all have a great festival!

Just completed the first half of the Three Countries Tour of Folk. I've been joined on tour by Lisa Knapp a great singer from London and singer and harpist Gwenan Gibbard from Wales. We started out on the 18th of April in Norwich and we've covered a fair bit of England, the highlights so far are Lincoln, Guildford...but there is plenty more to come! Tomorrow we set out for Wales where we play two concerts, then head to Southport and Gateshead. On the 8th of May we start the Scottish leg of the tour in Glasgow at Oran Mor, then onto Stirling and Aberdeen. Check out my tour page for all the dates. Its been a great tour so far and wonderful to meet Lisa and Gwenan and share some tunes and songs together. Big thanks to Craig Gaskin whos be driving us and doing sound on the tour. Also big thanks to Kevin Mackenzie whos been playing guitar with me on the tour.
Bodhran Beat 2007
Just back from a great weekend in Edinburgh at Bodhran Beat. Myself and Kathleen Boyle were supporting our fellow Dochas member, bodhran ace Martin O'Neil whilst he taught during the workshops at the weekend. Claire Mann and Gavin Pennycook were also there on hand as melody players to assist in the Bodhran classes. It was a great weekend, lovely weather and great company. All the tutors were on form on the Saturday night for the concert in the Pleasance Caberet Bar, with a packed audience including over 50 participants on the course. On the highlights was the Sunday afternoon workshop with Rick Taylor - mixing Bodhran's, Tromebone with Bangra, Carribean and African beats - amazing! Thanks to Barry for the invite!

Almost finished recording at the Transatlantic Sessions 3. I've been here on location since wednesday, and i'm having a total ball. Great pal Julie Fowlis has been here also and has been singing amazing. Look out for it coming to screen near you!
